When fishing, even in the ocean, most people don’t expect to be bumped out of the way by a whale. A father and son were fishing off the New Jersey coast when they captured a video of a humpback whale breaching the water next to them.
Zack Piller captured the video and posted it on his Instagram account. He was fishing for bass and tuna with his father near the Jersey Shore when the hungry whale emerged from the water around their boat.
The incredible video shows the whale rising into the air and crashing back into the water. During the incident, the whale tapped the boat, causing it to rock back and forth quite a bit. Piller and his father were shocked by the encounter and thankful that they managed to continue on with their fishing. Fortunately, Piller and his father were both unharmed.
Juvenile humpback whales have been spotted more frequently along the Jersey Shore in recent years as climate change has caused the waters around the area to heat up.
