Irritated Locals Rename Smelly Street as “Dog S*** Alley”

Piles of dog poop can inspire locals to adjust the street name to a more fitting title. A street in Tranmere, England, has been deemed as the “Dog S*** Alley” by residents who are growing tired of having to watch their step to avoid stomping in dog poo.

An anonymous person designed an unofficial cardboard road sign targeted at dog owners who fail to pick up after their dogs. The nameplate for Church Road and Seymour Street reads: “Dog S*** Alley, leading to Dog S*** Park.” People will be thrilled by the obstacle course in this unique park.

A person from the community gets the sentiment behind the road sign since it’s becoming a growing concern with no promising solution. People have been dodging dog poop for years.

One resident said: “We live close to Mersey Park and there are people taking a roundabout route, along Church Road and down Seymour Street, right round to the park again and it is a never-ending mess.”

Not even areas of the park that are forbidden to dogs are spared the mess. People still find a way to slip into those areas with their companions and leave a mess behind.

He added: “People are riding through [it] on their bikes, if you have a pram you’re hardly able to miss it and that goes into houses and everywhere. I have had [dogs] doing their business in my drive and it is all along the pavement from the junction of Church Road to Seymour Street to all the way round to the park.”

Complaints to political parties and to council have fallen on deaf ears with no actionable steps to rectify the dog’s waste. The man said in a fit of rage and desperation: “The only solution is to get somebody from the council, and excuse me for saying this, to get some balls to do something about it and having to get tough as it is just going to go on.”

Cllr Liz Grey, chair of the Environment, Climate Emergency and Transport Committee, said: “Responsible dog owners will always make sure they pick up their dog’s mess straight away in a bag and put it in the nearest bin.”

She added: “Of course, the council has a street cleansing schedule to clear up litter, dog mess and other rubbish, but with the best will in the world there are simply not the resources to enable our cleaners to respond reactively to every report of dog fouling.”

Wirral Council is going to get stricter with the penalties to get dog owners to scoop down and pick up after their dogs. They will be rolling out an environmental enforcement team to patrol areas and hand out penalties to people caught committing a litter or dog-fouling offence.
