Criminals like to take it easy every once in a while too. A Florida man certainly had some interesting plans when he broke into a vacation rental.
Zachary Seth Murdock broke the glass on the porch door of a vacation rental to enter the empty home. He decided to make himself at home, taking a bath, making himself some coffee and even taking a nap.
The Escambia Police Department posted about the incident on its Facebook page. The post read: “The suspect had smashed the glass on the porch door, entered the unoccupied vacation rental, used the bathtub, slept in the bedroom, made himself a nice cup of coffee in a mug (which he left on the back porch), and filled the kitchen trash can with trash (including his bus ticket stub).”
The suspect had already left the crime scene by the time police arrived but another burglary was reported in the same area. Murdock had also attempted to break into another home, pulling on a woman’s door handle and saying he was “looking for Tony.”
The woman described the man as “wearing a dark-colored shirt, dark-colored pants and a ball cap. The suspect was identified as the same man that had broken into the vacation home. Murdock was arrested shortly after on charges of burglary and damage to property.
