Man Issues Newspaper Ad for Lost Death Certificate

A death certificate is needed for those who have passed on and in general, are extremely important documents to have. The internet is a pretty weird place but apparently, one man took out a newspaper advertisement saying he had lost his own death certificate. Yes, you read that correctly.

For reference, death certificates are only issued when a person is dead. This means, that the man would be dead while also looking for his own death certificate. Clearly, this doesn’t add up.

Alas, a man identified as Ranjit Kumar Chakraborty from Assam, India, is the culprit for the ad that was issued in the paper. He claimed that he had lost his very own death certificate, again, something that is impossible to do. “I have lost my death certificate at Lumding Bazar (in Assam) dated 07/09/22,” the advertisement read.

Chakraborty even included more details like the registration and the serial number of the certificate in order to make sure if anyone found the piece of paper they knew who it belonged to. He also added his name and father’s name to the advertisement.

The photo of the advertisement was eventually shared on Twitter by Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Rupin Sharma. He captioned the post: “It happens only in India.”

Users got a pretty good chuckle out of the ad. One person wrote: “If found where the certificate has to be delivered Heaven or Hell?”

Another said: “He is not getting entry in heaven. Has come back to get it.”
