Man Wins $300,000 Lottery Prize Before Leaving on Vacation

There’s nothing like winning a big chunk of change before heading out on vacation. A South Carolina man was getting ready to leave on a holiday when he managed to win a $300,000 lottery prize before heading off.

South Carolina Education Lottery officials were told that the man was making preparations to leave on vacation when he visited the Publix store in Mauldin to buy a bag of ice. While at the store, he decided to pick out a Gold Rush scratch-off lottery ticket, which turned out to be a winner.

After finding out he won, the man quickly rushed to the lottery claims center in Columbia, South Carolina, to collect his prize before the office closed for the day. He was able to cash the ticket and head home so he could leave for his trip with a load of cash to take with him.

The winner already has plans for his prize money. “I’m debt free,” he said.
