Meet the World’s Largest Bobblehead

When you think of bobbleheads, most imagine a small statue that sits on people’s desks or on the dashboard of cars. A Pennsylvania business threw caution to the wind when they created the world’s largest bobblehead to celebrate an anniversary.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet unveiled the giant bobblehead of their store mascot Ollie on Facebook. The Pennsylvania-based chain wanted to do something special to celebrate its 40th anniversary and breaking a Guinness World Record seemed like the right thing to do.

“For 40 years, we’ve been committed to offering huge deals on brand name merchandise, so we wanted to create something big to help honor our anniversary and what better than a 16-foot bobblehead?” said Ollie’s CEO and President John Swygert said.

The store’s giant bobblehead figure measures in at 16 feet, 6.73 inches high and is located at the chain’s flagship location in Harrisburg. According to the Guinness World Records rules, the bobblehead must be an oversized replica of an existing model. Lucky for Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, Ollie is sold as a promotional item in the store.

The bobblehead was made using 3D modeling, hand sculpting, carving and painting to create the fully-functional bobblehead over the course of four months. It’s safe to say their hard work paid off.

The previous record was set back in 2016 by Florida-based Applied Underwriters who revealed a bobblehead that measured 15 feet, 4.75 inches high.
