Mother Gives Baby Same Name as Global Retail Chain

Choosing a name for your child can be a difficult process. It’s all about figuring out what name best suit’s the new baby and even after settling on a pick, it might not stick right away.

One mother opted for calling her daughter Sephora, which does mean “pretty” but it also is the name of a popular retail chain. A woman took to Reddit to share the bizarre name choice with others and tried to get their opinions on the matter.

Her post on Reddit read: “A girl from my hometown named her baby Sephora and I want your thoughts! For me, I think of the makeup place haha. I know the origins of it mean ‘pretty’ but it’s definitely a unique name!”

Users were quick to comment on what they thought of the name choice. Some found the name sweet, while others weren’t impressed with the choice. One person wrote: “I kind of cringed. It’s not an ugly name but all I can think of is ‘influencer wannabe’ naming their kid after a make-up chain kind of vibe, you know?”

Another added: “I love the name Zara so I have nowhere to talk but Sephora seems like too much? I wouldn’t do it to a child.”

Replying to the previous user, a different person explained: “Zara feels much different than Sephora, probably because it was already a very popular name.

“Naming your kid Macy is going to go much differently than naming them Nike. Like, they’re all names and words, but some were already popular and fairly common names before they were brands.”
