Pet Kangaroo Escapes From Owner’s Property

It’s not every day that a kangaroo goes missing. Police in Carroll County confirmed that a kangaroo has escaped from its owner’s property and is currently on the run.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said that the kangaroo is one of two owned by the same resident, who does have permits to keep the exotic animals. The pet was last seen at the owner’s property near the towns of Patton and Yeoman, Indiana.

According to authorities, police and animal control officers are not currently searching for the animal. Some notices have been posted to local lost pet groups on Facebook including, Lost and Found Pets of Greater Lafayette.

The posts say that the animal is not dangerous but is likely to be afraid of strangers. “You won’t be able to ‘catch’ him rather ‘herd’ him like you would any other livestock. He’s not mean just not social,” one post read. The owners are urging anyone who happens to spot the animal to call 765-464-4015.
