Rescued Beaver Builds Unconventional Doorway Dam

Rescue animals still have some of the same animalistic instincts that they would while roaming the wild. A Massachusetts animal rescue group shared how a beaver in their care was set out on building a damn in order to keep her roommate out.

Newhouse Wildlife Rescue in Chelmsford posted a video of a beaver named Nibi on Facebook that has since gone viral online. In the video, rescued beaver Nibi was alone in the area she normally shares with her roommate Ziibi. Nibi can then be seen gathering sticks from the floor of the room and using them to build a dam in the doorway.

“As a reward for her good behavior towards her new roommate, Nibi was allowed to have the rehab room to herself for an hour while Ziibi enjoyed the semi-aquatic enclosure,” the rescue group wrote.

They added: “Nibi immediately started building a dam at the door where her roommate exited… you know… in case Ziibi tries to come back inside…”

Getting fed up with your roommate is only natural and it seems Nibi just wanted a bit of alone time away from hers.
