Most people purchase IKEA furniture because of its sleek design and reasonable price point, not because they’re easy to put together. An electric vehicle firm has decided to put a twist on the vehicles by creating emission-free tiny cars that come in parts.
Luvly — a Swedish firm — figured out a way to stand out from other vehicles. With the aim of reducing costs, Luvly has created a system where their cars are manufactured in pieces before being sent to their destination.
This means that shipments can much more economical. When most shipping containers can only fit a capacity of four cars, it’s possible to fit the parts needed for 20 Luvly vehicles inside. As of right now, the company only has one model available — Luvly 0 — but they have plans to create a three-wheeled sports car or a small van.
Fortunately, the buyer doesn’t have to assemble the product themselves. The company plans to have a number of regional factories that will be in charge of the assembly process. The small car is meant for urban use and has been designed to move around agilely, occupy a minimal amount of space and consume little energy.
The Luvly 0 car measures nine feet in length, five feet in width and 4.7 feet in height. The two-seater model only weighs 840 pounds, with anyone interested in the vehicle expected to fork out $11,000.
