Trailer Filled With Bat Poop Stolen

A thief may have gotten a little more than he bargained for after stealing a trailer full of bat droppings. It’s safe to say that the robber will probably have second thoughts about the burglary if they only knew what was inside the stolen trailer.

CCTV footage shows a truck driving off with a trailer from Borland Wildlife Solutions located near North Cotner and Leighton. The trailer was used to hold the equipment needed to remove mice and bat droppings from people’s attics.

The business is now attempting to track the trailer of poop and other goodies that the thief took off with. “They hooked the trailer up and took off with a tiny little truck pulling a 14-foot trailer full of 500 to 700 pounds of bat feces,” owner Steve Borland said.

As part of his business, Borland’s job is to remove pests and the droppings they leave behind. Equipment like long hoses are used to clean the remnants and other debris from homes and store them in large bags in their trailer. Inside the trailer that was stolen was equipment like a vacuum, hose and PPE.

“But that’s all they got,” Borland said. “The trailer, the equipment and 700 pounds of bat guano.”

Not bad for a day’s work. Boy, will the robber be in for a special surprise. “I’m just glad we didn’t lose anything we can’t easily replace,” Borland said. “And nobody got hurt.”

The company did file a police report but as of now the trailer and its contents are still missing. The total cost of everything is around $15,000.
