Two Men Dressed as Ice Cream Break World Record

Why not run a marathon in style? A pair of British friends wearing ice cream costumes broke the Guinness World Record by becoming co-holders for fastest marathon dressed as a sweet food (male).

Alan Falle and Scott Welsh made sure to cross the finish line of the Jersey Marathon at the same time to earn their Guinness World Record. They each completed the run in three hours, 48 minutes and 12 seconds.

The duo first met each other through football. After playing against each other for rival teams, they grew close after Falle, 32, ruptured his ACL and worked with Welsh, 30, on his rehabilitation. Falle signed up for the marathon as a thank you to Welsh for helping him with his rehab.

“Scott and I were both thrilled when confirmation arrived that we’d obtained the record, and we hope it will stay in place for some time! It’s something unique that we can both be proud of,” Falle said.

Their shared love of ice cream is also where the idea for the costumes came from. The two of them traveled across the island during the summer to try to find the best soft-serve.

“That’s where the outfit idea came from, but the marathon was just one run out of many in my challenge to run 2022 km (1256.4 mi) in 2022, raising funds and awareness for a local charity called the Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation, who provide emotional and financial support for Jersey families with children who require medical care off-island,” Falle said.
