Woman Stabbed Husband After Queen’s Funeral

The Queen’s death had an astounding impact on people, in both good and bad ways. A woman from the United Kingdom stabbed her husband twice following Queen Elizabeth’s funeral because she was “upset” about the monarch’s death.

Geraldine Parkin recently pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm on her husband, Alfred Parkin, in September 2022. The couple was drinking on the day of Her Majesty’s funeral when they got into an argument that escalated into an altercation.

The 54-year-old was “not making sense” during the argument before she “hit” Alfred. It was reported that Geraldine went into the kitchen, “grabbed” two knives and stabbed her husband in the shoulder and the bicep before her son managed to pull her away. Fleeing the scene, she was later found by police in a field with blood on her jacket and fingertips.

Her lawyer said the attack was “impulsive” and “spontaneous” but that Geraldine had suffered years of “significant” domestic abuse by her husband Alfred. There had also been a “degree of provocation” from Alfred.

The recorder told Geraldine that she had committed a “serious offence that could have been even more serious.” Since she has a history of alcoholism, Geraldine was given a 12-month suspended sentence and was ordered to get treatment and go to rehab.
