Woman Who Claimed She Was Too Pretty to Be Arrested Sentenced to Jail

It turns out, being good-looking won’t get you out of everything. A Las Vegas woman who claimed she was “too good-looking” to be arrested has now been charged for killing her mother.

Hend Bustami was sentenced to a minimum of 15 years behind bars for the fatal stabbing of her mother. The 29-year-old pleaded “guilty but mentally ill” to the charge of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.

The incident occurred on October 26, 2022, when Bustami called 911 and told a dispatcher “I think I killed my mommy.” Bustami was covered in blood when she was arrested after being stopped on a highway in California hours after she killed her mother, 61-year-old Afaf Hussanen.

The pair had gotten into a fight over cigarettes, which turned physical and resulted in Bustami stabbing her mother. Police had been called to the home at least a dozen times for “family disturbance” and one for a suicide attempt. Neighbors also said trouble often happened at the home.

Around a month before Hussanen’s murder, Bustami was arrested at Harry Reid International Airport for skipping out at an airport Chili’s restaurant and protested to officers that she was too attractive to be arrested.

When officers tried to detain her, Bustami called them “perverts” and accused them of “trying to rape her because they [had] never seen anyone as good-looking.”

Bustami pleaded guilty to a number of other charges including burglary, invasion of the home, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, sale of a controlled substance, or gaming crimes, for which she had prior felony convictions. She was sentenced to 15 years to life and will be required to receive medical care for mental illness as part of her sentence.
