World’s Oldest Cat Nearing 27 Years Old

Aging is a cause for celebration when a blessed cat named Flossie attained the world record for the oldest cat at 26 years 316 days. In human years, her age would be approximately 120 years.

Flossie has brown and black fur and she is known for her gentle personality. For a senior lady, she’s still got the energy of an active kitten. Despite her poor vision and hearing difficulties, overall she is in good health standing.

Her worldwide fame kicked off when she was handed into the care of Cats Protection, the U.K.’s leading cat welfare charity. “We were flabbergasted when we saw that Flossie’s vet records showed her to be 27 years old,” said Cats Protection’s Branch Co-ordinator Naomi Rosling upon the incredible discovery.

She ended up in the charity during her senior years since people were hesitant to adopt an older cat. Fortunately, she was matched with an owner who was happy to take Flossie.

Her current owner, Vicki, said that she is adaptable to new environments despite her physical limitations.

A certificate is a nice touch but this lady loves her food. An average day for Flossie consists of purring and napping beside her owner or enjoying a bowl of food. “She never turns her nose up at the chance of a good meal,” Vicki said.
