Seagulls have got to be the most annoying bird out there. They’re always searching for scraps in almost every public space there is. A zoo is looking to stop the pesky birds by hiring “seagull deterrents” to assist in scaring the animals away.
The Blackpool Zoo in England said that applicants should be “comfortable wearing a bird costume.” The new hires would be part of the Visitor Services team, with their duties including dressing as giant birds of prey to scare seagulls away from the zoo’s main dining areas
“At Blackpool Zoo it goes without saying that we love all animals! And as a seaside resort, Blackpool is not short of seagulls. However, the seagulls are proving to be a bit of a nuisance when it comes to trying to steal food from our visitors and our animal enclosures,” the job posting read.
The zoo said that ideal candidates would be visitor focused, friendly, energetic, flexible, outgoing and “need to be comfortable wearing a bird costume.” If you’re interested, applications are meant to be sent to recruitment@blackpoolzoo.org.uk.
