Dump Truck’s Raised Trailer Hits Overpass in Virginia

Large vehicles are meant to be careful while driving but that doesn’t stop some drivers. A dump truck with its trailer upright was captured colliding with a Virginia highway overpass.

Amir Jaffery was driving behind a truck on Interstate 66 as it approached the Route 286/Fairfax County Parkway overpass. Jaffery’s Tesla dashboard camera captured the moment that the truck’s raised trailer collided with the overpass bridge and broke free from the truck, flipping into the roadway.

VDOT Northern VA posted a video on X, which showed the traffic backed up due to the incident. The post also warned drivers to expect delays as crews worked to clean up two left general-purpose lanes and the right express lane.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident and no other vehicles were damaged. It remains unclear as to why the dump truck’s trailer was raised or whether the driver knew it was before the collision.
