Customer Charged After Throwing Sandwich at Worker

Getting your order wrong doesn’t need to result in mindless violence. A Subway customer allegedly threw a submarine sandwich at a worker who had messed up their order.

Police reported that Alberto De Barros “became upset with her after finding out that his sandwich was not separated.” Following a brief exchange between the two, Subway worker Cassandra Pierre-Louis said, De Barros “began causing a disruptive scene.”

The Subway worker announced that she would no longer be serving the 54-year-old Stuart, Florida, resident, which is when “the sandwich was thrown at Ms. Pierre-Louis.” The sandwich ended up hitting the worker in her “mid to lower body section.”

When De Barros left the restaurant, Pierre-Louis followed him outside and photographed his license plate, which led police to De Barros’ nearby home. During police questioning, De Barros said he “believed he threw the sandwich at the counter instead of Ms. Pierre Louis.” Store surveillance footage proved otherwise. It showed “De Barros swipe the sandwich off the counter which subsequently strikes Ms. Pierre-Louis.”

De Barros was arrested for battery and booked into the Martin County jail. He was released from custody this afternoon after posting a $1,000 bond and is now scheduled for a February 1, 2024 arraignment.
