Fans Angered After Burger Chain Switches From Selling Pepsi to Coca-Cola

There are Coca-Cola fans and then there are Pepsi fans. Both feel very strongly about their preferred beverage and will show their outcry when it gets swapped out for the other. In this instance, Pepsi fans are reeling after frozen custard and burger chain Culver’s switched their products to Coca-Cola.

“This is in progress and will take time as our nearly 900 restaurants located in 26 states make the switch,” the Wisconsin-founded chain said in a statement. The restaurant did add that its signature root beer, Dr. Pepper, as well as its sweet and unsweetened teas will remain unchanged.

Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist and Tropicana drinks are giving way to Coca-Cola’s counterparts. Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta and Minute Maid will now be on the menu, to be paired alongside the chain’s staple: the ButterBurger.

Fans of the chain restaurant, particularly in the Midwest where they take their fast food seriously, are furious about the change. Hundreds of angry comments have been flooding Culver’s social media channels after the change was announced.

One person wrote: “I cannot believe Culver’s is switching from Pepsi to Coke. It’s always been my all-time favorite place to eat. This is totally ruining it for me.”

Another added: “Switching to COKE? Come on!”

Others are quite happy about the change. One user said: “Unpopular Midwestern Opinion: I, for one, am stoked that Culver’s is switching from Pepsi to Coke products.”
