Impaired Driver Called Police on Herself After Getting Stuck in the Snow

Being impaired and stuck in the snow leaves you in a pretty tricky situation. An Ontario, Canada, woman was arrested for impaired driving after she called the police for help after getting stuck in the snow.

On Christmas Day 2023 around 2 a.m., North Bay OPP received a call for help from a motorist who said she was unsure of her location but her vehicle was stuck in the snow. Officers began searching for the vehicle and found it on an unnamed road in French River Township.

After an investigation, it was determined that the driver, identified as Amy Southwind, had been impaired while driving. The 37-year-old North Bay, Ontario, woman was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, failure or refusal to comply with demand and have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.

Southwind was released and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on January 16, 2024. The woman was also given a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, along with the vehicle impounded for seven days.
