Man Gets Trapped in Bathroom on Plane Traveling Across India

Getting stuck in a bathroom doesn’t sound like an ideal situation. A malfunction that occurred on a flight traveling across India caused a passenger to be stuck in the plane’s bathroom for over an hour.

The man was flying from Mumbai to Bengaluru, India, on a SpiceJet flight when he became trapped in the bathroom because of a broken lock. Spice Air flight crew members attempted to get the man out but were unable to until they landed.

Bengaluru airport technicians intervened and were able to unlock the door and get the man out safely. The airline later apologized for the incident and said the passenger would get a full refund for his fare.

According to other passengers on the flight, the flight crew told the man to remain calm and “not to panic.” They even passed a note to him under the door explaining what they were doing to help the situation.

“On 16 January, a passenger unfortunately got stuck inside the lavatory for about an hour on a SpiceJet flight operating from Mumbai to Bengaluru, while the aircraft was airborne due to a malfunction in the door lock,” a statement from the airline said.

“Throughout the journey, our crew provided assistance and guidance to the passenger. Upon arrival, an engineer opened the lavatory door, and the passenger received immediate medical support.”
