Plane Grounded After Rat Spotted Onboard

One of the last things you want to spot while flying in an airplane is a rodent. A Sri Lankan plane was grounded for three days after a rat was spotted onboard during a flight.

SriLankan Airlines officials said that the rodent was spotted on the Airbus A330 flight headed from Lahore, Pakistan to Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The plane had to be grounded for three days after the incident while the aircraft was sprayed with poison. Technicians also made sure to check the rodent hadn’t damaged any equipment by chewing through wiring.

“We had to spray a chemical to an aircraft in which rats were found and ground it for one day as per the international standards,” SriLankan Airlines Chairman Ashok Pathirage said. “Two other aircraft had to be delayed due to technical defects.”

The plane is now back in operation but delays still persist due to the three days it was out of service for.
