Recycling Center Workers Find Woman’s Lost Diamond Ring

Sifting through piles of garbage is not the way most people would like to spend their day. Workers at a South Carolina recycling center spent hours digging through the trash to help find a diamond wedding ring lost by a resident.

The City of Greenville posted on Instagram that Melanie Harper visited the Rutherford Road recycling center when she realized her diamond wedding band had fallen off her finger while she was placing her recyclables into a bin.

Harper had initially sent the city’s Public Works department an email, writing: “I know the likelihood of finding this is slim to none. But, if the ring is found during the course of processing the recycling, I would be most appreciative if someone could contact me.”

Public Works employees ultimately decided that when the bin was the arrive the next day, they would dump the contents on the ground and sort through everything in order to find Harper’s ring. “After hours of searching, Travis Golden struck gold. White gold,” the city said.

Harper was asked to come to the center so she could pick up her ring.
