Rescue Dog Creates Art With His Tongue

Dogs have several unique talents that can be uncovered, including creating works of art with their tongues. A one-earned dog channeled his inner artist to create paintings at a Connecticut rescue.

The dog, accurately named Van Gogh, is a seven-year-old boxer-pit bull mix that was rescued from a North Carolina dog fighting ring. At the time of his rescue, the animal had ear injuries that were so severe it had to be amputated completely.

Since then, the pup has been staying a Happily Furever After Rescue. Jaclyn Gartner, the founder of the rescue group, taught Van Gogh to paint with his tongue by putting paint and canvas into a plastic bag coated with peanut butter.

Creating so many works that are up to snuff with the pup’s namesake, the rescue decided to hold a gallery show for Van Gogh. Despite only two people showing up to check out the gallery in person, his paintings have made quite the splash online.

After going viral, around 30 of the dog’s works have been sold for $40 to benefit the rescue. “He has been getting adoption interest from all over the world and we are hopeful that Van Gogh will be in his furever home soon!” the rescue also added on Facebook.
