Woman Accused of Using Aunt’s Debit Card for 136 DoorDash Orders

Why not shop until you drop when it’s someone else’s money? What could possibly go wrong?

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, a Louisiana woman has been accused of using her aunt’s debit card for making over 100 purchases on DoorDash and is being held on a preset $18 million bond.

Maili Morris was booked into the county jail on February 16, 2023, on 816 counts of criminal financial charges. While the $18 million bond is a steep price, it’s not the official bond that’s typically set by a judge. The number is a cumulative total amount based on the preset figure set for the over 800 counts she faces.

The 31-year-old will appear in front of a judge to officially set her bond, which can be adjusted accordingly. Morris is being accused of ordering about $12,000 worth of food and merchandise from a number of vendors in the Hammond area between November 2022 and January 2023.

According to investigators, Morris made 136 purchases using her 73-year-old aunt’s debit card, which she had linked to her personal DoorDash account. The orders were from various locations including Big Lots, Petsmart, Walgreens, CVS, Dollar General and multiple fast food restaurants.
