Biker Identified After Posting Video of Police Chase Online

You might have escaped the police once but bragging about it will surely have authorities out for blood. A motorcyclist who eluded police during a chase was later identified when he posted about his exploits on social media.

The Georgia State Patrol chased the biker through Clayton and Henry counties but the driver managed to get away after they lost contact with him. While the case could’ve ended there, after hearing about the case, Lieutenant Reimers with the Clayton County Police Department began searching through social media for any clues.

The officer eventually found a video recorded by the suspect of the chase on both TikTok and YouTube. In the video, the driver is seen weaving in and out of traffic, as well as driving along the shoulders of the road and between vehicles all while speeding.

Using special investigative software, Reimers was able to identify the make and model of the motorcycle. Since the software determined the bike was relatively rare, it was simple to track down the owner of the motorcycle using his registration.

While visiting the driver at the home, officers saw the motorcycle. The driver eventually admitted to fleeing from the authorities and was promptly arrested for doing so. Clayton County police said they issued 12 arrest warrants against the driver but it remains unclear as to what charges he faces.

“Without the diligent efforts of Lieutenant Reimers to go above and beyond the call of duty, it is highly likely that the offender would not have been identified and he could have continued to endanger the citizens of Clayton County,” police wrote on Facebook.
