When people go on stealing sprees, they opt for taking jewels and money from people. A couple from Alabama went off the beaten path when they decided to steal a fire hydrant.
The Mobile Police Department said officers received a call around 5:30 a.m. about people stealing a fire hydrant in front of a Regions Bank in Mobile, Alabama. Responding officers located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop where they discovered the fire hydrant in the truck, along with a firearm and drugs.
Keith Haley and Karla Frye were both arrested by police. The 43-year-old man was charged with first-degree theft of services and carrying a concealed weapon, while the 39-year-old woman was charged with first-degree theft of property, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both are set to have upcoming bond hearings. Officials estimate that the total cost to replace the fire hydrant is going to be at least $1,500.
