Driver Has Uninsured Lamborghini Taken Off the Road

When driving a supercar, it’s imperative that you have the vehicle insured. Who wants to be driving a $200,000 car down the road with the risks entailed by being uninsured?

A Lamborghini Urus worth $240,000 was seized by police officers in Merseyside, U.K., after they discovered the driver was too young to be behind the wheel. When most read that sentence, they’d assume the driver is probably in their teens and hasn’t taken their driver’s test yet but that isn’t the case.

In this instance, the insurance policy on the high-end car only allowed for drivers aged 40 and over. The motorist pulled over was actually eight years too young, aged 32, to be driving the supercar.

Insurance premiums are often lower for drivers over 40 but make, model, driving history and year of the car are also considerations in deciding rates. Over the last few years, rates have risen across the United Kingdom.

The area’s Road Policing Unit explained the situation in a post uploaded to Twitter. They wrote: “The insurance policy for this Lamborghini Urus only permitted drivers over 40 years old.

“Unfortunately, the driver on this occasion was eight years too young and was therefore uninsured. The vehicle was seized and the driver reported.”

Many social media users got a kick out of the post and were shocked that the driver was willing to risk crashing such an expensive vehicle with no insurance.

One person commented: “Imagine driving a 160k+ car uninsured.”

Another wrote: “Gone in 60 seconds.”

A third person else added: “Imagine having enough money to own a Lamborghini but having to cheat your insurance!”
