Driver of Stolen Transport Truck Calls Police for Help

When going through with an illegal act, it’s best to not call the police while doing so. A driver in northern Ontario, Canada, called police officers for help after driving a stolen vehicle quite a distance.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said officers with the Nipigon detachment, near Thunder Bay, were called to a local gas station by a commercial driver. Authorities said that the driver asked for help with a locked fuel card in an attempt to top up the transport truck before heading back out on the road.

When investigators arrived at the scene, they discovered that the 2019 Peterbilt transport truck had actually been reported stolen in Mississauga earlier that day. They arrested the man who was driving the truck, who was identified as Mohammed Al-Bashiri.

The 48-year-old from Winnipeg was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 for the crime.
