Drugged Guardsman Rants About Boredom While Working

If you want to slack on the job, the least you can do is not document the scene. A guardsman was scrutinized for filming himself as he goes on about being bored while protecting the Queen. To make matters worse, he was under the influence of cocaine.

Jimmie Straughan, a 23-year-old guardsman at Windsor Castle, shared a video of himself on TikTok staring at ducks from his post while on the job. Straughan thought the ducks on the ground were more interesting than his job responsibilities. He didn’t seem keen to carry out his duty, as the duck family looked more entertaining to him than the royal family.

In the video, he’s heard saying: “I am currently standing outside Windsor Castle. I’m meant to be looking after the Royal Family. Currently staring at two ducks. Do I care? No.”

The video has got viral with over 400,000 views and people are shocked by his work ethic saying this is a way to be “unpopular at work really quick.”

It should be no surprise that Straughan was kicked out of the job but he has no regrets. “When you join the Army, you’re sold a dream of traveling the world and going to exciting places but when we were on ceremonial duties, it was just hell,” he said.

Straughan was called out by the late Monarch who was displeased with his behavior and he recalled: “I never got caught taking the video of the Queen walking her dogs with a footman but she phoned up the guardroom and reported me for misbehaving on post.”

“I got a b********g but nothing more than that. If they’d seen the video, I’d have been out on my ear.”

He was also discharged from the elite Scots Guards. Former comrades said Straughan, from Berwick-upon-Tweed, moved to Australia after failing a compulsory drugs test in March 2022.

Ducks and drugs put a doom spell on his guardsman career but he’s happy to cut his losses since it seems like he was desperately searching for an exit.
