You never know what you might find behind a fireplace. During a home renovation, a couple from England made the shocking discovery of a stash of letters nearly 100 years old behind a fireplace.
Laura and Jason Lamonby-Parker said that they have been renovating their house in Widnes, England, which they purchased in March 2023. The 100-year-old home has brought on many surprises, including some old mail that was found behind the living room fireplace.
“There were all these letters behind it and I just said ‘look at all these.’ I don’t know if they were trying to be burnt and they fell down the back of it,” Laura Lamonby-Parker said.
The couple said that the well-preserved letters were dated 1934, 1935, 1936 and 1937 and addressed to Miss Rhoda Taylor. The pair decided to contact the previous owners of the house but they did not have any information about anyone with that name.
Both Laura and Jason are hoping to return the letters to a relative if they can find more information about Taylor’s identity.
