Mouse Cleans Up Welsh Man’s Shed at Night

Who wouldn’t want a little extra help tidying up? A wildlife photographer in Wales set up a camera in his tool shed to capture the creature that was moving objects around at night.

Rodney Holbrook of Builth Wells, Wales, said the mystery began with some bird food he stored in the shed ending up in an old pair of shoes. The 75-year-old decided to set up a camera and ended up recording footage of a mouse making nightly visits to move around small items and place them into a small tray on a shelf.

“It happens every night without fail,” Holbrook said. He nicknamed the animal “Welsh Tidy Mouse” who tends to work alone but will sometimes be accompanied by one or two other helpful mice.

The mice like to move the Items that have been left out like nails, cable ties and small tools to a tray to hide nuts. “I don’t bother to tidy up now, I leave things out of the box and they put it back in its place by the morning,” Holbrook said.

According to Gareth Davies, the founder of Wales-based Pest and Property Solutions, mice are “miniature hoarders,” which could explain the rearranging. “Mice are very inquisitive creatures, and they are hoarders. They love hoarding food and everything else. It’s in their nature; they are completely different to rats,” Davies said.
