For most brides, their special day includes making sure all their bridesmaids look uniform. This can be done by having the women dress in the same or similar dresses, shoes accessories and color stories. One bride went a step further in this unification, wanting all her bridesmaids to be the same height.
That’s right, a woman banned one of her bridesmaids from wearing heals in order to be the same height as the rest of the others. The bridesmaid in question was around 5 feet 11 inches and was forced to wear flat shoes with her dress so she didn’t look so out of place in the wedding photos.
The bride-to-be posted on Reddit about the situation. She explained that Sophie has been one of her best friends since childhood by sticks out as a sore thumb because of her height. “At my last bridesmaid meeting we were discussing shoes, I said that I wanted all of us to wear heels (about 2-inch heels) except Sophie, who I wanted to wear flats. I thought she would be fine with it because she doesn’t like being the tallest,” she wrote.
She added: “Instead, she said that her wearing flats will make her stand out more than if she was 10 centimeters taller than us, and would make her look like she’s super self-conscious of her height when she’s not anymore.”
The bride admitted that the other bridesmaids also weren’t too keen on banning Sophie from wearing heels but ultimately, Sophie said she’ll wear flats to make the bride happy, even if it would make her uncomfortable.
People weren’t too happy with the bride’s remarks, saying that she shouldn’t care about what her photos will look like and should instead be focused on everyone feeling comfortable. One person wrote: “Never understood this aesthetic thing with people.”
Another commented: “Exactly! You’ll want your friends and family there, so treat them as such. If you want the perfect aesthetic but ultimately meaningless photos, hire some models.”
