While spotting a bear anywhere can be terrifying, doing so in the comfort of your own home must be the worst of all. A California couple woke up at 2 a.m. to their home security camera alerting them that a black bear had entered their garage.
Nicole and Larry Collum from Arnold, California, said that their security camera’s alarm woke them up to let them know an intruder had made its way into their home. When they checked to see what prompted the alert, they were completely shocked.
“There was a bear coming into the garage,” Larry said.
The couple said the bear was slowly wandering in through the garage door, which had accidentally been left open overnight. “It was huge,” Nicole said. “That bear was very big.”
To make matters worse, the couple said the bear was not easy to scare away from the home. “He definitely could have done some damage and he definitely wasn’t afraid of me,” Larry said.
Larry determined that the bear likely had smelled the garbage can sitting inside the garage. Luckily, this was a learning experience for the pair who will no longer be leaving any doors open in the future.
