Company Creates $3,400 Amethyst Office Chair

Style can sometimes be an uncomfortable experience. A Japanese semiprecious stone processing company created an office chair made out of a giant L-shaped piece of amethyst. Perfect for all the crystal lovers out there.

Factory-M, a Saitama-based store specializing in semiprecious natural stones, shared its statement piece online, claiming that despite looking super dangerous, you can actually sit on it. That’s as long as you can afford to buy it as the chair is listed at $450,000 yen or $3,400.

Koichi Hasegawa, the founder and owner of factory-M, said that he came up with the idea for the unusual-looking office chair while on a trip to the United States, where he was searching for natural stones to bring home to Japan. When he discovered the large L-shaped piece of amethyst, he immediately pictured it as a chair.

The chair consists of the amethysts sitting on a reinforced metal frame, which factory-M claims can easily support a sumo wrestler. It also weighs a ton as well, clocking in at 218 pounds.

If interested, you’ll need to hurry as Hasegawa claims that dozens of individuals and companies have expressed interest in acquiring it but he hasn’t pulled the trigger just yet.
