Dog Toy Turns Out to Be Tasmanian Devil

Is that a moving dog toy? That was the question running through the mind of a lady in Tasmania, Kirsten Lynch, who must have assumed she was hallucinating when the dog toy was moving.

In a video, Lynch is seen startled by the sudden movement of what she assumed is a dog toy. A closer look revealed a Tasmanian devil who snuck into the house.

Lynch was searching for the plush Tasmanian devil that belongs to her golden retriever, Gecko, which is one of the dog’s favorite toys. When she spotted the object, it was moving away from her. Her dog’s toy came to life in a bizarre way.

“I went to reach for it, the devil shot underneath the couch,” she said.

Lynch called for her husband in a panic to deal with the animal intruder. Her children jumped on the kitchen table while her husband directed the creature out of the house with a broom.

“We were concerned that if she or he was cornered and scared they would bite someone,” Lynch said.

The entire family eventually made their way to the top of the dinner table as the fears got the best of them. “I got the fright of my life. But to be honest, I think the poor thing was more terrified of us,” Lynch said.

Tasmanian devils rarely enter homes and they are typically scared of people. They only bite when they feel provoked so the family staying away on top of the dining table is a good course of action. Nobody was attacked and the creature was able to back its way back outdoors.

Lynch believes that the wild animal must have followed the puppy’s lead to gain entry. “The devil got through the fence behind Gecko and walked in through the door that we leave open for her as she’s still potty training,” Lynch said.

Now, Gecko probably wants more moving toys for entertainment.
