Thief Admits to Stealing $37,000 Worth of Chocolate Easter Eggs

With Easter around the corner, a U.K. man was trying to get ahead of the holiday by stealing nearly 200,000 Cadbury Creme Eggs worth over $37,000. His eggcellent plan clearly didn’t go according to plan as he was later spotted by police and arrested.

Joby Pool reportedly used a metal grinder to get through the gates of the unit housing where the chocolate-stuffed trailer was sitting. He used a stolen truck with false plates to steal it. The 32-year-old was later seen by West Mercia Police, who claimed he walked toward them with his hands up.

The authorities were able to recover the sweet treats after easily cracking the case wide open. “This is clearly an organized criminal matter,” prosecutor Owen Beale said. “You don’t just happen to learn about a trailer with that kind of value being available.”

Pool was charged with criminal damage and two counts of theft and could face up to two years in prison for the crime. His sentencing is eggspected to take place on March 14, 2023.
