Dog Missing for Seven Years Finally Found 1,677 Miles Away

When a pup goes missing, all you can do is hope for the best wherever they are. An owner had all but given up on his lost dog after seven years until a miracle happened.

A dog went missing in New Mexico seven years ago and was finally located over 1,600 miles away in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Jennifer discovered the dog limping on the road when she was sitting on her porch one evening.

“My first thought was I need to take him to the emergency vet and get him checked for a microchip,” Jennifer said.

She took the dog to an animal hospital and found it had a microchip that was linked to an owner in Farmington, New Mexico. Jennifer texted the number that was provided and got hold of Nugget’s owner, Jessie Springer.

Springer said he was shocked that the dog was still alive because he thought it had walked off years ago because of the animal’s age. Carolina Loving Hound Rescue (CLHR) worked with both Jennifer and Springer to reunite Nugget with their rightful owner. The animal rescue covered Springer’s flight to South Caroline to pick up the dog, who is now 16 years old.
