Man Hasn’t Stopped Farting for 5 Years

Feeling the effects of food poisoning usually appear within a day or two of consuming bad food. A man from the United Kingdom claims that a festive ham sandwich from December 2017 has been causing him uncontrollable flatulence ever since.

Tyrone Prades has dreaded eating that sandwich ever since it happened almost five years ago. He purchased the festive roll at a Christmas market in Birmingham and mere hours later, he was hit by stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhea and fever. The pain became so bad that he was bedridden for five weeks.

Those five weeks turned out to be just the beginning of his troubles. The 46-year-old has suffered from regular and uncontrollable flatulence that causes him embarrassment ever since that moment. Stomach noises continue to wake him up in the middle of the night.

Although it’s been five years since he ate the sandwich, he is now suing the owner of the food stall where he purchased the food. The asking price? A whopping £200,000 or $243,000.

Prades’ lawyer told the court that months after the initial illness went away, his stomach was still making weird noises. Plus, the uncontrollable flatulence has never really gone away at all since the incident occurred.

“The symptoms are, primarily, fatigue and altered bowel function associated with ‘churning’ within his abdomen and flatulence. The claimant’s stomach continues to make frequent churning noises to the extent his sleep can become disrupted,” the lawyer said. These “life-altering” symptoms have caused Prades to be too embarrassed to go out in public.

It’s believed that the sandwich Prades ate all those years ago may have been caused by e.coli found on a knife. Health officers claimed that there was no salmonella and that the allegation of salmonella must be proven.
