Mother Secretly Cyberbullies Her Own Daughter

According to one woman, the best way to get ahead of your child being cyberbullied is to do it yourself. A Michigan mother followed that idea to a tee and was recently arrested for allegedly cyberbullying and catfishing her own daughter and her boyfriend for more than a year.

Cyberbullying is one of the biggest problems that youths face as they grow up using the internet. Instead of stamping that down, Kendra Gail Licari started to harass her own teenage daughter through texts and social media messages for over a year. She would sometimes end up sending 12 texts and other messages a day.

Licari’s daughter came to her for help with the constant cyberbullying so Licari reported her daughter and her boyfriend’s harassment to authorities in December 2021. She and the boy’s mother worked together to try to find the person responsible for the cyberbullying so no one suspected that she was actually the villain all along.

Investigators found that Licari had tried to conceal her real identity on the internet but when police and FBI IT experts got involved they were able to quickly trace the activity to Licari’s IP address. After confronting the 42-year-old woman about it, she made a full confession.

Licari is currently facing five charges, including two counts of stalking a minor, two counts of using a computer to commit a crime, and one count of obstruction of justice. She was arrested in early December 2022 but she has since been released on a $5,000 bond. Licari could end up with 10 years in prison for cyber crimes and another five years for stalking and obstruction.
