Police Discover Duck Riding Shotgun After Pulling Over Drunk Driver

Police were in for quite the surprise during a routine suspected drunk driver case. Ontario Provincial Police reported that they discovered a duck riding shotgun after pulling over a suspected drunk driver.

On July 19, 2023, police officers in Essa Township located a vehicle in the area of County Road 27 and Innisfil Beach Road after receiving a call from a concerned citizen about a person’s driving. After locating the vehicle, Nottawasaga OPP pulled over the suspected drunk driver.

When walking over to the window, cops noticed a white duck sitting in a basket in the front passenger seat. The situation, which was too funny not to share, led officers to posting about the incident on Twitter.

Officers said they had “quacked this case” after they charged the 47-year-old Collingwood woman with impaired driving. The vehicle was also towed to an impound lot, where it was held for seven days.

As for the water loving friend, the suspect’s family was able to retrieve the animal.
