Raccoon Appears on Baggage Belt at Philadelphia Airport

Apparently, a raccoon wanted to go on vacation as well. Travelers at a Philadelphia airport were surprised to see a raccoon show up on the belt at baggage claim.

A passenger at Philadelphia International Airport recorded a video of the incident, which was posted on Twitter. The video showed the raccoon emerging from the cute next to suitcases from a recently-arrived flight.

According to airport officials, this isn’t the first time they’ve seen a raccoon. The hub is surrounded by fields, which has led raccoons to get into the airport from time to time.

“The raccoon in the video most likely got lost in one of the baggage tunnels and was attempting to get out. The airport works with the USDA to set humane traps for raccoons,” the airport said in a statement.

Airport spokesperson Heather Redfern reported that the raccoon was not caught by staff but it did appear to have found its own way out of the building.
