U.S. Customs Destroys Pokémon Yellow Copy Worth $10,500

A Pokemon collector was shedding tears when their biggest nightmare took place thanks to customs officials. An original and sealed copy of Pokémon Yellow has been ripped apart by U.S. customs, diminishing its value from the whooping $10,500 it could have been in its original condition.

Stephen Kick, CEO of Nightdive Studios, on Twitter, wrote in his caption: “Friend of mine received this sealed and graded original copy of Pokémon Yellow… US customs: Broke the acrylic case, ripped and discarded the seal, SLICED the front of the box off.”

It’s challenging to stay calm when a customs officer tore up something worth thousands.

This copy was sealed and graded by Wata Games, who gave it an A+ rating and a score of 9.2. According to the site, this item was in “exceptional condition” with “a seal that is in near mint condition.” People will be hard-pressed to find a replica version of this item so the value of the piece would fetch approximately $10,500.

It is no longer able to claim that high ticket value since the front cover of the box has been torn apart. Our hearts go out to the collector since this isn’t a pleasant sight for any owner.
