Drivers Report a Fake Alligator on the Road

Spotting an alligator can be pretty frightening, especially when one is minding its own business out in the middle of traffic. A Texas animal shelter received a number of calls about an alligator on the side of the road, which turned out to be something they didn’t expect.

City officials said they got a number of calls about an alligator in the westbound lanes of the George Bush Tollway in Plano, Texas, during rush hour on the morning of April 3, 2023. When Plano Animal Services arrived, they discovered that the call wasn’t actually about an alligator but a realistic-looking alligator toy.

Officials joked about the incident on Twitter saying: “You never know what you’re going to see on your morning commute!” They included a photo of the toy on the highway, which probably would look pretty realistic while driving by.

Animal shelter employees made sure to rescue the little guy and decided to make him a part of the Easter display in their office. For now, there is no word on where the alligator toy came from or who it belongs to.
