Fake Sign for Nude Beach in Chicago Removed

While many could care less about visiting a nude beach, there are some people who love to bare it all in the sunshine. A fake sign that was found in Loyola Beach that designated that area as a nude beach was removed by the Chicago Park District.

Rogers Park beachgoers visiting the lakefront over Labor Day weekend spotted a new sign at Loyola Beach that read “nude beach past this sign.” The sign, which was attached to a post, also included the official Chicago Park District seal, making it seem even more official.

The only problem was that the sign was indeed a fake.

Alderwoman Maria Hadden (49th) was notified of the fake sign and reported it to the Park District for removal, posting on X, formally known as Twitter, that “at least some clothing is required at all of our beaches.”

Chicago Parks also replied to Hadden’s post on the subject, confirming the sign was not official and saying that unauthorized use of the district’s seal is “strictly prohibited.” Park District officials were able to remove the sign around 5 p.m. on September 4, 2023.
