Missing Cat Returns Home Using Doorbell

Missing animals have returned home before but it’s unclear how many have made their presence known by ringing the doorbell. A furry feline was caught on security camera ringing the doorbell to be let inside after the animal hadn’t returned home on time.

Stefanie Whitley said her eight-year-old cat, Lily, didn’t come home one night around two weeks after the family had moved to a new house in Mastic Beach, Long Island. “Normally she comes home but this time felt different and I didn’t think that Lily was coming home,” Whitley said.

Four days later, Lily returned home late at night and announced her arrival by walking up onto the front porch and ringing the bell to be let in. The family has a Ring doorbell camera, which filmed the entire thing.

“We all gasped. We were laughing. We were emotional. We were crying. It was a great moment,” Whitley said.

Whitley even believes that Lily knew exactly what she was doing when she rang the doorbell. “She’s a very smart cat,” Whitley said. And also a hungry girl after four days on the road.
