Police Find 1,875 Pounds of Cocaine Washed Up on Beach

Drug dealers have been finding creative ways to make sure their loot gets to its proper location by taking detours across the ocean. Foiling someone’s plan, a group of French maritime police found over a thousand pounds of cocaine washed up on a beach on the English Channel.

According to France’s maritime authority for the English Channel and North Sea, police are now trying to learn where the drugs came from and how they ended up near the town of Reville on the Cotentin Peninsula.

The cocaine was found in two large packages which were linked together by a rope. The total weight came to around 1,875 pounds, making the drop a significantly large one.

Packages of drugs have washed up on beaches in the region before but it’s only around once or twice a year. Officials have also never seen such a large quantity wash up on shore.

For now, police are investigating the incident and are trying to determine whether the drugs fell from a ship or if they were intentionally floated to the shore for traffickers to eventually pick up.
