When a group of men with beards get together, it’s usually not to measure out their facial hair. A bar in Wyoming was the host of a rather strange yet successful Guinness World Record attempt for the longest beard chain.
Competitors that were in Casper, Wyoming, for the National Beard and Moustache Championships gathered at Gaslight Social, where they stood side by side and clipped their beards together to create a hairy chain. To participate, people needed to sport a beard at least eight inches in length.
“You had to stand there and not move for probably, we were there for a good, like, half an hour of just standing straight,” participant Joel Andrus said. “Because if you move too much, you break the chain a little bit.”
Altogether, the beard chain measured in at a staggering 150 feet, which smashed the previous record of 62 feet and 6 inches that was set in Germany back in 2007.
