Babes in Toyland | Get The Flick Outta Here #78

In 1986, a pre-teen Drew Barrymore and a pre-“Bill & Ted” Keanu Reeves starred in a German-produced, American made-for-TV movie adaptation of the old operetta “Babes in Toyland.”

The “film” simply defies description.

Most of the “citizens” of “Toyland” are just people in cheaply made animal mascot costumes. The “Toymaker” is played by “the guy who played Mr. Miyagi in ‘The Karate Kid.'”

There is, however, a fantastic little ditty in this holiday musical about the mid-sized Ohio city of Cincinnati, written by a person who is not from there and as far as we can tell, has never even been there.

There is no reason for the song to be in this movie.

Spoiler Alert: We’re gonna GET THE FLICK OUTTA HERE. But stick around and find out why!
