Bed sheets that feel like petting a cat might just be the perfect gift for the cat lover in your life. Who wouldn’t want to be fully encompassed in what is essentially a giant cat hug?
This idea sprouted from an employee that worked for the Japanese clothing and housewares company Nissen. They loved cats but lived in an apartment that didn’t allow pets, making their life cat-less.
To make up for the lack of fluff in their life, Nissen decided to do something to help her and other people in similar situations. After months of testing and development, they created bedsheets and blankets that feel like you’re petting a cat when you touch them.
The Neko Feel (“Cat Feel”) material was developed by consulting with employees who own a cat. They would sample a number of fabrics until they found the perfect combination of softness, thickness and fiber lengths.
The lineup currently consists of four products: a throw blanket, a mattress pad, bed-size blankets and a circle relaxation cushion. Each product is available in either the Russin Blue (gray) or Scottish Fold (beige) color.
Prices range from $13.30 for the throw blanket to $40.85 for the double bed-size blanket on Nissen’s online shop. It’s best to sign up for a notification when orders open up again since the initial batch of Neko Feel items sold out within hours.
